What Are We Afraid Of?
About the Project
Installation
What are we Afraid of ? is a set of five traditionally hand-crafted rice paper and bamboo fans with text supported by bamboo presentational stands and placed on individual stainless steel shelves. The work constructs a question addressing the nationalist impulses, cultural distrust, and overt racism which emerged in the Unites States in the late nineteen eighties and early nineties regarding the economic success of Asian countries, specifically Japan.
